VEESSEN, 14 January 2010 – After five intensive and fruitful years, Tera Terpstra is stepping down as the Director of d.o.b foundation. Evert Ludding – who has worked at the foundation for several years as a lawyer – has been appointed by the board as the Interim Director. It is not yet known who shall succeed Tera.
Tera Terpstra became the Director of ‘De Broedplaats’ in January 2005, which at the time was the innovation platform for international cooperation of the De Oude Beuk Foundation. Under her leadership, the foundation developed from being a conventional organization for development work into a social investment company bearing the name d.o.b foundation.
“Tera has built an organization with the strength and knowledge necessary to operate in Africa as a Venture Philanthropist (VP),” says d.o.b Board Chairman Jean-Pierre Sweerts. “And we are very grateful to her for that.”
“Five years is a good run,” explains Tera. “There is now a solid foundation for d.o.b to expand its activities further through VP. For me personally, I know I want to continue contributing to the development of Venture Philanthropy and that entrepreneurship will play a key role in this effort. I do not yet have any concrete plans. I prefer simply to make space for whatever comes my way. I am very confident about having a fruitful future.”
In the months to come, d.o.b foundation will actively look for a successor to Tera. We are seeking a driven team player with demonstrable qualities as a daring investor and a passion for Africa.
